Map of Valenwood
Rainforest realm of the Wood Elves and their walking trees
Where is Valenwood?
Valenwood covers the south-west of Tamriel, along the coast facing the Summerset Isles. It is the homeland of the Bosmer, or Wood Elves, and one of the densest rainforests on the continent.
Geography
Much of the province is covered by giant graht-oaks, trees large enough to hold whole towns in their branches. Elden Root is built inside one, and Falinesti is famous as a city that walked across the forest with the seasons.
Woodhearth, also called Haven, is the main western port, and Southpoint lies on the southern coast. Cyrodiil borders the province to the north and Elsweyr to the east.
History
The Bosmer live under the Green Pact, an ancient vow to the god Y'ffre that forbids them from harming the plants of Valenwood. They eat only meat and build with wood that has fallen or been shaped by song.
Valenwood was a founding member of the Aldmeri Dominion in the Second Era, and in the Fourth Era it again came under Thalmor control.
Valenwood in the games
Valenwood is part of Arena's map. The Elder Scrolls Online covers Grahtwood, Greenshade, Malabal Tor and Reaper's March.
